Toronto (Canada), Mar 4 (Entravision) .- The Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper today announced the suspension of all activities of cooperation between the Canadian armed forces and the Russian army.
“This morning I gave the order that all bilateral activities planned between the Canadian forces and the Russian are suspended,” said Harper in the lower house of Parliament in response to a question from the opposition on the launch by Russia of a intercontinental ballistic missile.
“We consider all the military activities of the Russian Federation and of the president (Vladimir) Putin with the greatest concern. The operation ‘Vigilant Eagle’ and all the other planned activities have been suspended,” he added Harper.
In the next operation Vigilant Eagle, which organizes from 14 years ago NORAD (the system of defense area of North America), was provided for the participation of Russian forces together in the United States and Canada.
In November, the director of exercises of NORAD, the greatest American Joe Bonnet, she said, to announce the participation of Russia in vigilant Eagle, that working with the Air Force of the Russian Federation and its professionals created “lasting ties and associations very valuable for our security” .
Harper also pointed out that the Canadian authorities are reviewing all of its bilateral relations with the Russian authorities.
