(Entravision)On January 15, 2014 at 12:14 PM, Daniel Lee Bell, a 26 year old man from Seaside, was arrested on a $150,000 warrant for rape of an intoxicated subject. The warrant stemmed from an investigation initiated by the Monterey Police Department on December 30, 2013, when a woman reported having been raped by an unknown man. Through further investigation, Bell was identified as the suspect. At the time of the assault, Bell was on duty as a uniformed security guard, wearing a duty belt with pepper spray, a baton and a stun gun. He was driving a marked security vehicle and was assigned to patrol apartment complexes throughout Monterey County. Bell is employed by Code 3 Security out of San Jose, California.
The woman and her male companion were contacted by Bell, in the 700 block of Pine Street, Monterey, as they were walking home from a local bar. They thought Bell was a police officer due to his uniform and marked vehicle. The male companion was sent on his way and Bell escorted the victim to her residence where the assault occurred.
