A California man looking forward to catching the lighthearted family movie “Smurfs 2,” wound up getting an eyeful of something he won’t soon forget.
James Terry claims that when the DVD came out of the Redbox machine it looked perfectly fine, with the “Smurfs 2” logo and the Redbox bar code. But the movie recorded on the DVD was something else quite different, “I saw girls in bikinis at first, and I was like, what am I watching?” Terry said. “And then it became more and more disturbing, with hardcore porn.”

Terry says he called to complain to Redbox about the switch-up. A manager for the company reportedly told him that they have had an ongoing issue with other renters recording pornography onto their DVDs and then returning them to the automated kiosks.
KCRA reports that Redbox has offered Terry 10 free rentals and a $2 credit as compensation for the inconvenience.
In a statement released to KCRA, Redbox representatives said they are looking into how the altered disc made it into their system and the company is working with law enforcement to track down the person responsible.
