San Jose, Mar 4 (Entravision) .- The Government of Costa Rica today expressed “concern” about the situation in Crimea and described the deployment of foreign troops in that area as a “violation of international law” and the sovereignty of Ukraine.
“The Government of Costa Rica has followed with extreme concern the development of the events of the last few weeks in Ukraine, in particular the recent violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity by foreign forces deployed in Crimea”, said the Costa Rican Ministry in a statement.
added that Costa Rica believes that “there is no valid justification for such a deployment, which is not only a violation of international law, but a factor of internal destabilization” .
Before This, the Costa Rican Government has condemned the military action in the Crimea and urged that the armed forces beyond Ukraine “return to their points of origin” and that the parties involved in the conflict opened the dialog.
“Costa Rica hopes that the United Nations Security Council acts in accordance with its mandate to ensure that they attract the peace, the internal tolerance and respect for the sovereignty of Ukraine,” he added.
The crisis in Ukraine that led to the removal of president Viktor Yanukovich pro-russian after a popular revolt has resulted in a military intervention in Russia in the Crimean Autonomous Republic, whose leaders have also been declared prorrusos.
